The papers consist chiefly of letters Eliza Jaquelin Carrington to her youngest sister, Ann Fisher, 1796-1825. There are also letters from her to Mildred Dudley and Francis Cairnes. Topics include family life; growing up in Yorktown, Va.; Revolutionary War experiences; flight to Charlottesville to escape the British; the destruction of Yorktown; John Marshall; Lewis Warrington, the illegitimate son of Rochambeau's son whose mother was a member of the family; travel in Virginia; and a visit to Mount Vernon. In addition the collection contains a letter, 1815 May 1, J.A.B. Fisher to his mother regarding his becoming a minister; and a eulogy, 1832 December, by John Marshall for his wife.
